Hue - Getting There & Getting Around

Vietnam Airlines run daily flights to Hue form Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. The 14km taxi ride from the airport to the centre of Hue takes about 20 minutes and costs $8. For the return journay you can use Vietnam Airlines minibus which departs from their office at 12 Hanoi Street.

There are numerous minibus services operated from Hue to Danang and Hoi An, many of which stop for a short while at Hai Van Pass and Lang Co Beach. You can also hire a car and driver to take you sightseeing or to your next destination. Most hotels and travel agents will be able to arrange minibus or car.

Hue is also a stopping point for the Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City express train.

Many of the sights around Hue can be reached by boat along the Perfume River. You can also take organised tours which last about 6 hours and cost from $6 per person.

Places to Eat

You will have no problems finding a delicious meal in Hue. Try the Mandarin Cafe on Hung Vuong, the Stop & Go Cafe on Ben Nghe or the Xuan Trang Cafe also on Hung Vuong. On the north side of the river there is the Lac Thanh Restaurant on Dinh Tien Hoang and the Tinh Gia Vien Restaurant on Le Thahn Ton.
